Dr. Brian J. Mawhinney received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2001. He completed an externship in primary eye care at the Laurel Eye Clinic and at Hellerstein and Brenner Vision Center. He also completed at externship in ocular disease at the Kayenta Eye Clinic and was the recepient of the Service Unit Departmental Customer Service Award.

After graduation he served as Chief of Optometry at the Inscription House Health Center on the Navajo Indian Reservation. He and his family moved to Vermont in 2004. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and is a life long member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. His areas of interest include primary eye care, contact lenses, and low vision.
